UFC Pushing for Adelaide Event

UFC executives are in Adelaide scouting for possible locations in which to host a fight card in 2015. The world’s premier combat sports franchise is keen to spread its message into South Australia having already hosted fights in Sydney, Brisbane and the Gold Coast.

The UFC has been incredibly popular every time it has hosted fights in Australia, with each of the above venues collecting more than $10 million at the gate on each occasion.

Since 2010 the UFC has hosted more than 66,000 fans at five live events. With crowds always eager for more.

And they won’t have to wait long.

Sydney is hosting its forth show later this year. On November 8 the Allphones Arena will see some of the best martial artists in the world today. The main event will feature Michael ‘the Count’ Bisping against the hulking Luke Rockhold.

Possible venues being inspected by the UFC executives include: the Adelaide Entertainment Centre (10,000 seats) and the Adelaide Arena (8,000 seats).

Australia has contributed several notable fighters to the UFC stable, but none, so far, able to pose a serious threat to their respective championship belts.

It is hoped that more international fights, of the calibre only the UFC can offer, will generate more enthusiasm for Mixed Martial Arts and contribute to the rise in Australian fighters’ fortunes.
